In the beginning, PM Electric was founded by Poul Mathiesen in 1966. And then there was light. Poul initially worked out of the back of his garage doing various service work such as overhead doors, printing presses, and contract work at various manufacturing plants. Business steadily increased and soon the company outgrew the family garage and required a bigger facility. PM Electric moved to a new 2000 square foot shop in the industrial area located in northwest Edmonton.

In the 1970’s PM Electric made a progressive move that would ensure its steady growth and eventual birth of a sister company. Venturing into the area of servicing petroleum service stations proved to be the catalyst that would perpetuate PM Electric. Soon, with the purchase of boom and bucket trucks, PM Electric was conducting lighting service and manufacturing signs.

With a great demand for manufacturing and installing various signs PM Electric found itself in a unique position and decided to expand. In 1986 PM Electric moved to a new location, again in the northwest section of Edmonton, that housed a 12,000 square foot facility. It is at this time that PM Signs was born with the advent of modern manufacturing equipment.

Today PM Signs & Electric still calls Edmonton home but has branch facilities in Calgary and Saskatoon with service installation agents throughout Canada and select locations in the United States. With a fleet of 9 crane trucks, 12 bucket trucks and 19 service vans and present expansion at the Edmonton facility to incorporate more manufacturing facilities and state of the art paint booths, PM can help with any of your electrical or signage needs.
